Kia ora koutou katoa and welcome to Families Supporting Adoption (NZ) aka FSA(NZL).
I'm Kathie Rifle the current Chairperson for FSA in New Zealand and I welcome you to our FSA Social Network. So what is FSA and what does it do? Families Supporting Adoption is an organization sponsored by LDS Family Services that seeks to promote a positive view of adoption. The organization has more than 5,000 members worldwide—including adoptive couples, birth parents, adults who were adopted, and adoption professionals. Our New Zealand Chapter consists of around thirty-five families. We meet together on an annual basis to provide support and education for one another.
FSA(NZ) produces an emailed Quarterly Newsletter, containing adoption placement announcements, messages from LDS Family Services, NZ adoption stories, fun family activities, and articles & links of interest. Past issues can be downloaded - these are presently available at http://nzfsa.weebly.com/newsletters.html.
Our NZ Chapter of FSA wishes to provide information and advise for LDS families considering adoption, seeking to adopt children either for the first time or hoping to adopt another precious child. We want to provide information and advise for birth mother/families who may be considering placing their child for adoption or just considering options that may be available to them. For those of you who are already members of FSA in New Zealand, I invite you to share your stories, experiences, information and advice.
I look forward to seeing our membership grow in New Zealand. FSA(NZ) welcomes birth families, adoptive families and their respective whanau to join us in promoting a positive view of adoption. Nau mai, haere mai.
Love and kindest regards
Kathie Rifle
Chairperson
