Families Supporting Adoption NZ

Promoting a positive view of adoption

Hello everyone,

We are couple in our thirties looking to adopt due to infertility. M (potential dad) is a child & youth psychologist working in the youth sector and M (potential mum) works in health & safety / outdoor education equipment.

We  are currently at the beginning of the cyfs process, we have been to the information day and are waiting for the next "How to care" 2 day seminars that are compulsory to attend while our paperwork is processed.

We have chosen to access this site for information and future support and to support others.

Kia ora M&M. It is a longand tedious process isnt it. And sometimes you are made to feel that you have to be perfect to qualify for adoption. You are certainly not alone on the infertility journey. My husband and I have been married for almost 21 years now - we have been hugely blessed with 9 adopted children, but still never even a sniff of a pregnancy. The truth is that adoption definitely takes away the sting of childlessness, but it doesnt ease the pain of infertility. I wish you all the best on your adoption journey - it is certainly very fulfilling and very rewarding, albeit a bit of a rollercoaster ride. Hold on tight - its definitely worth the journey.
